Caveman Diet
The Paleo diet is also called the "Stone Age" diet or the romanticized "Garden of Eden" diet. According to experts, it has been the normal pattern of eating for nearly 3.5 billion years. The diet itself is based on the way the hunter-gatherer groups billions of years ago ate.
Technically, your body is still the same as it was back then, genetically at least. The premise of the Paleo diet is that, if you feed your genes well, your body will keep itself healthy. But if you feed your body unfamiliar nutrients in the wrong ratios, it will age faster, malfunction and riddle itself with disease. In today's culture, your every day vitamin intake is considerably lower than that of your ancestors a few billion years ago. In their agricultural production, the vitamin and mineral levels were nearly five times higher than today's. Current use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers causes vitamin and mineral depletion. Even animals are not getting the correct nutrients needed grow to the phenomenal sizes that they once were.
To take on the Paleo diet is to subject yourself to a complete body detox. No eating at a fast food restaurant, no large quantities of sweets and processed foods. The list of foods to not eat on the diet of your ancestors includes dairy products, breads, beans, potatoes, sugar, and salt.
These are the very things that you include in your everyday diets. Many of the foods on the do not eat list, mainly grains, contain toxins that attack the body, eating away at the soft tissue. Certain fruit seeds also contain toxins as a defense mechanism so that the species may be carried on.
The foods that you are supposed to eat more of while on the diet are meats, eggs, produce, nuts and berries. While most people find organ meats repulsive in smell, appearance and taste, you should try to increase your intake of them.
For those who want a weight loss program and to be healthier by lowering cholesterol, the Paleo diet is a good way to do it. It increases protein intake. Healthy carbohydrate intake is enhanced because you're not eating refined sugar. Detox causes rapid weight loss in the beginning, but tapers off slowly a more steady rate.
There have been many high protein, low carbohydrate diets out there over the years. However, none compare to going back to the old style of eating, the way that the hunters-gatherers did so long ago
If you're ready for a radical change in your diet and in your life, then this diet will do it. The total body detoxification is healthy and safe way to lose youight. High protein, low carbohydrate and low sodium are the diet fads of today. How about a weight loss program that includes all three? You achieve your goals in a radically healthy way. Though your body won't know how to handle it at first, you will eventually settle in and be on the Paleo way to a healthy new lifestyle.
