Weight Loss Worries Diet Scams

With the increase in obesity and people who are generally overweight, people have started to grab on to whatever weight loss program, diet pill or detox program available in the hopes that they can lose weight quickly and with minimal effort. While some of the systems work in the short term, you have to be very careful about not allowing your diet to cause more serious health issues.

Many diet pills have been pulled off the shelves because of the risk for serious complications. Others are still available in over the counter forms or via prescription that may exacerbate conditions if taken over an extended period of time. Because so many people are willing to jump at the chance to lose weight, they often ignore potential problems or simply do not care enough about them to stop using them.

Diet scams are abundant. We hear and see them all the time in print ads, radio and television commercials. You hear and see things like 'Stop your cravings forever with this pill' or even 'Lose weight while you sleep'. While these may seem very enticing to people who are desperate to lose weight, the only thing you will likely be losing is your money.

Going through a doctor is the only really safe way of dieting for those who are interested in losing weight. The doctor will prescribe medication if there is a necessity for it but will also monitor your overall health and recommend a diet and exercise program that will suit you. All the other lose weight quickly types of diet are usually scams meant to get your money and do nothing for your overall health

Diet scams come in a variety of different types. There are metabolism boosting pills that are supposed to increase the amount of calories you burn. Many claim they are made from herbal ingredients so are therefore healthy for you. Fat and carbohydrate blocking pills claim to allow you to eat what you want, when you want and in the quantity you want while blocking all the weight gain portions. This simply is not true.

Herbal weight loss teas are another popular weight loss scam. These diets consist of herbal teas that do nothing more then flush water weight gain from your system. They are typically a diuretic and do nothing to promote your health. Diet patches, jewelry, or "slim suits" are also scams. Some of them do absolutely nothing whatsoever. Others merely make you sweat so you lose a pound or two in water weight gain but it is nothing that is sustainable.

Diets that promote fast weight loss with very little work or lifestyle changes are scams. In order for a system to work there must be a well balanced diet, moderate portions and exercise. Those who have a problem with obesity may be able to get assistance in the form of prescription medication but it should only be done under the direct supervision of a physician. Eating correctly with a healthy diet and exercise is the only sure fire way to lose weight.
